Hello everyone!
Thought you'd like to see some pictures of the latest Renda family vacation! We made a spur of the moment decision last week to join Bill and Sally (Honey and BeeBee) in Casey Key for a few days. They were staying in the Reutlinger's awesome beach house with some friends and were kind enough to let us crash the party when we realized that it was President's Day and we didn't have much going on.
Sophie had so much fun playing with her Honey and Beebee and their friends!! She got to celebrate Honey's birthday in person which was so fun. She also finally got to meet her Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Renda (Bill's parents) because they live just a short drive away and so we had brunch and dinner.
Sophie was not a huge fan of the beach this visit -- seems as the water and sand sent her senses into overload or something. I'm sure she'll learn to love it though! Mommy read the new Stephen King book which was fitting since Sophie actually had a brief encounter with him while we were there! Turns out he owns a house on Casey Key as well and he seemed quite enamored with Sophie when we saw him on a walk :)
Daddy did some fishing and caught some yummy sea trout for dinner. He also caught a bunch of tiny fish to use for bait and Sophie was VERY interested in those. She actually touched one and kept trying to reach into the bait bucket -- if Mommy took her hand away she would make the sign for 'more' and say 'puh puh' (please!). Definitely her Daddy's daughter - as if we didn't know that!
Sophie also learned how to give kisses on the cheek this week -- although she seems to think they belong on the nose! She lean in, then turn your face, and give you a big wet one on the nose! What a goofball. No pictures of that new feat but we'll work on it. New words of the week are appropriately airplane (ah pah) and home (hum)! The last one I think she learned from me saying 'We're almost home, Sophie!' whenever we're in the car. So on this trip whenever we said "We're almost there, Sophie!", she'd go 'home!' We have this poor girl so confused she has NO idea where home is. But it's totally worth it especially for a week at the beach with Honey and Beebee!

This picture was taken the first day and was Sophie's first look at the ocean -- it was also the last time she stood on the sand without crying :)

A beach towel provided nice protection from the icky sand -- Sophie took the opportunity to stick the swim ring over Daddy's head and say 'hat'! Not exactly but she does think everything is a hat these days :)

We watched the sunset every night but the last when it rained -- most nights it was a little chilly, hence Sophie's down jacket!

Sophie was okay with sitting in the chair on the beach - as long as she didn't have to touch it.

This is her pout before the cries started!

But all was well again in Mama's arms.
