Kate turned the big 2-8 yesterday! Doesn't she look great after a month of mommy-hood?She celebrated with flowers, gifts and a yummy breakfast of french toast and strawberries! In the evening, we got dressed up and went out to a great birthday dinner at Les Frères Jacques! Sophie spent a few hours with her first babysitter! Thanks go out to Liz B. for giving mommy and daddy a chance to spend some time together! We splurged on a wonderful bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and topped the evening off with a champagne toast!
Sophie and I also had grand plans of baking a fancy birthday cake together. She helped me pick the type of cake (chocolate) and icing (chocolate toffee). She seemed really excited about her first cooking lesson :)
Unfortunately, as you can see in this last picture, cooking is exhausting work! Sophie was a great helper, but a mid-baking nap break was necessary :) It turned out great in the end, though, and mommy was very impressed!Love,
